America was founded on the backs of slaves. Until white Americans become comfortable with the country’s deplorable origins, we will not make significant progress in dismantling systematic oppression.

Most white people do not decide to be racist. Only a minority of them promote racist ideologies. Covert racism is more dangerous for black people. We have be told time and time again that our circumstances in life are not related to our race. Yet, the average black family makes one-tenth of the average white family. This is directly linked to the fact that slaves made no money. After slavery ended, Black Codes and Jim Crow laws maintained white dominance over black citizens.

It’s no longer good enough to not be racist. Only anti-racists, similar to abolitionists must join the fight for a more just society. Anything else is an abdication to white supremacy.
