Exactly. Your article was very spot-on. They are afraid that people of colour will get an advantage, disregarding that we are already at a disadvantage. In America, the average black family has one-tenth of the wealth of the average white family. This wealth gap won’t go away on its own. Policy changes must be made. Affirmative action, like you suggested, is about leveling the playing field. As long as people contend that it’s racist, it’s more difficult to implement the changes we know would help.
