His statements were disturbing. He is not a champion of civil rights that we would like for this moment. The Crime Bill and his treatment of Anita Hill are on the top list for me.
The sexual allegations are distrubing. I really wish they would just let things like this go to court so that there would be some time of process for determining what happened. Then again, Trump thinks he can grap women by the pussy and this is very insulting to me. More so, it is insulting that people still accepted him as president. Would they want someone to talk about their mothers like that? I mean, he is around my parents’ age. The thought of someone harassing my mom makes me red hot. When Bill Clinton acted inappropriate, the act was consensual and America lost its mind. lol. However, this man can admit to misogyny and America just shrugs its shoulders. He retweets white supremacist messages and everyone just shruggs.
It seems like during the primary period, friends of mine were not as involved. I tried to talk to them abou the amazing options but no one seemed to care. I told them that Bernie would free us from student debt, that Elizabeth Warren wanted to invest in Black women business owners, that Julian Castro fought for reparations for us, and that Yang wanted to provide universal income for every American to address automation. Still, it seems that one of the issues is that my cohorts (the early 30 somethings) simply were not interested enough fast enough.
The first time I voted was for Obama when I was 18 and again when I was 22. In 2016 I was excited by the idea of putting a woman in the whitehosue. However, the hatred for her seemed out of this world. Still, she wanted to fight for Equal Pay for women and when she was first lady her mission was to advocate for healthcare. She chaired the Task Force on National Health Care Reform. This will be the first time I am voting for someone that has a luke-warm presence as opposed to a progressive . Ultimately, I will vote for Biden. But like most, this is not something that excites me in the least.
