I admire your dad's choice to help disadvantaged children. You and your father have privilege and at least you are using this for good and not to hurt children.

I agree that Black doctors are better to treat Black children but if they are not available, then you are doing something really admirable.

You are right that a variety of factors contribute to the disparities. Black and Indigenous women die at approximately 3x the rate and the doctors in the study I read found that many of the doctors say these deaths were entirely preventable.

I wonder if it is implicit bias that causes these discrepancies. You are right that one study does not give us all the answers. However, over time we can continue to review the peer-reviewed reports on these.

Reading your writing it seems you are more culturally sensitive than many people. Your intent to do good is the most important element. Thanks so much for sharing your writing and experiences.
