I am voting in Louisiana.
And I agree we are between a rock and a hard place in the 2020 political environment.
Biden is far from perfect but there never has been a perfect politican for me.
People like Reagan, who many people praise as an American hero described Black people as monkeys while talking to Nixon.
So, has there ever been a time when African Americans did not have to bite the bullet?
So back to Biden. Of course, he is flawed. However, we can talk about what we do know about his record - his 94 crime bill, his treatment of Anita Hill, his position on the Hyde act, his inability to answer the call for Universal Healthcare.
However, I see progress. The Biden|Kamala ticket supports ending privatized prisons and ending the cash bail system (that is huge for Black people). In addition, they support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. People in my family make less than that.
I will never think that every woman is lying about rape or even most. The majority of women are telling the truth. However, there are women who lie and make it harder for women who do experience it, like me, to come out. I was afraid of being doubted so I understand the stigma. But if I just believe anything some woman says to dinegrate a man, I am no better than the lynch mob who never cared about facts - only emotions.
Rape is horrible but so is accusing someone of a crime they did not commit. As women who both have survived abuse, we should be angry at women who do not tell the truth because they disrespect women like us when they do that.
Rape is so prevelant in the United States. Still, we cannot treat all men as if they are equally capable of doing that. I am sure that you know good men in your life who would not treat a woman like that, would never get turned on by unconsensual sex, and never disrespect someone else's body. I know some good men and just as you say "not all women are lying" we have to also consider that "not all men are guilty".
I know the pain of sexual harrasment and racism. Still, I talk to you with dignity and respect because I do not assume you are racist or bad in any way. The second I start assuming that people are bad is when I lose hope in humanity and I'm not there yet.
2020 is a shit sandwich and neither of us preferred these circumstances. I am hoping for the best.
