I do believe the Democrats are playing with kid gloves against a Republican party that uses brute force to dismantle our civil liberties. Something has got to change, and I think they can start by refusing to cater to the Trump voter. Your essay reminds me of Michelle Obama's quote about, "when they go low, we go high," statement. It sounds nice but in theory you end up a dangerous game, relinquishing power.
