I enjoyed watching Black Lightning and I remember the scene that you spoke so eloquently about. He put everyone's needs before his own because he knew that the police would not approach the situation reasonably. Our parents have always taught us to stand down in the face of police because they never wanted us to end up as another hashtag. The sad part is that even if you do everything right, you can still die at the hands of the police. I will never forget hearing George Floyd beg for mercy. I swear sometimes it feels that there is nothing we can do. Thanks so much for writing this. I want us to keep fighting against a system that fails to recongnize our humanity.
