I loved reading your piece. It was a breathe of fresh air because it exposed the blue wall that stands in the way of true criminal justice reform. The comments of the officer saying, “Black lives don’t really matter” is devestating. When all we want is to be treated as people, I really don’t understand why anyone would hold that hate towards us. It’s even more scary because his ideas represent others on the force that think of it as their duty abuse and oppress black people. I’m glad this national conversation is happening. I am mortified thinking of the day America grows tired of talking about racial inequality.
