I will never forget what they did to Radio Raheem. The movie was an excellent portrayal of Black communities. Spike Lee never hid from the conflicts that we experienced.

There is the example of them killing Radio Raheem. However, the movie also provided examples of soft racism. In the pizza shop, the Italian man refused to put Black heroes on the wall even though the majority of his money came from Black people.

The riot that caused the police to come came from anger experienced due to discrimination by the Pizza shop owner. They expected the main character (Spike Lee) to calm down other black people even though they witnessed injustice.

Thanks for writing this article. I loved the movie. You did an amazing job of setting the scene that demonstrated the racial tension that led up to the creation of this film. Bravo!
