My hometown is New Orleans. The racism is pretty thick in the south. Even though I am from the South, I feel afraid when I leave outside the city limits. Some places are worth visiting. However, you have to be careful about where you go. I think that Black people would definitely accept you but I cannot say you won't experience any discrimination. I was once told to leave this small town just because I was Black. The name of the town is Leesville.
