Sorry, but you are entirely wrong. It is about slavery. Slavery is over but this is about the white supremacist system, not the system of slavery in of itself. Black people in Britain have many disparities. This is not about politics, this is about ensuring that the heroes society looks up to are actually worthy of being put on a airs.
