Thanks for reading and sharing this selection. I think Chief Seattle loved the land but unfortunately wasted his time in extending brotherhood to White people, who exploited the land. Of course, Indigenous people did not believe in property ownership in the way that Europeans do, so it must have been strange for him to be confronted with such ideas. His letter illuminates the humility he had and a deeply held faith in other humans. Sadly, White people continue to disappoint.
