Allow them to use printed, relevant sources that are provided, which they can cite in their work. Of course, this is not a solution to the problems you proposed. Ultimately, these AI companies are going to need to listen to teachers to craft ethical practices that create standards, but in a capitalistic society, it seems unlikely.
