Thanks for your well written article. You are absolutely right that there is a distinction between these terms that gets muddled at times. Discussing how these terms influences the conversations we are having is very important. Black is the more offensive term to many people. However, I consider myself black and I am very proud of who I am. You are right whe you said "you have to name a problem before you solve it". Good job naming it so eloquently.
