The men, of the time did not fight for Black women's right to vote. However, I am really happy they gained some power during Reconstruction.

You are right that true change comes from the working class rising up. In my opinion, this is one of the many reasons voting is important. I still believe that as Black people we have the power to influence American institutions. However, due to the backlash in the past, we must be even more careful moving forward but we cannot let past failures stop us from pursuing a better future.
