…ath that, characters are interesting and fun to watch when you understand their motivation, period. What you need to be able to do is understand their motivation. Not like it, not agree with it, but understand it.

This interview resonates with me. Characters should not be described as likable or unlikeable but rather relatable or not relatable in my opinion.
We definitely do not need to agree with characters but a good writer will make us understand their motives. Thanks so much for sharing this interview.
