We know how moderates operate. They stand for issues but seem to buckle at the knees when they realize the power moves necessary to make policy initiatives into our lived realities.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait longer for the Equality act. For that, and many other reasons, we should get rid of the filibuster; a simple majority is more than enough. And, this law is important because it will offer protections to the LGBTQ community. If he can't get this done during his term, many will see him as a snake oil salesman.

Although, a moderate was never going to do extraordinary things to make things happen. People like him (a white cis-gender man) will never understand that we must take extreme measures to rectify injustice. So sorry that he broke his commitment. Notice, they also said nothing about passing the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act yet.

Chuck Schumer's Senate needs to get rid of the filibuster and if he doesn't, then it's a condemnation of moderates in general. Thanks so much for writing this story. I hope things change but your writing makes me realize we may be in for a long haul.
