Far-right talking points becoming mainstream has enabled the right to easily manipulate conservative voters into believing that healthcare and science are evil, the social safety net is bad, and non-white poor people are the enemy.

Well said. The right wing news outlets put out conflicting stories and they seem very convinced by them. They have effectively convinced them that policies designed to help will actually hurt them.
