Yes, I agree. The United States did a lot of damage. But from what I hear, women outside of Kabul and major cities did not benefit from the same advancement as some women even when the Afghanistan government was in charge.
The advancement was incomplete and only occurred because of foreign intervention, which would mean we would have to keep sending our men and women to die to maintain a semblance of freedom.
The Taliban will treat women horribly. But, I think that our nation-building failed because it was an outside movement. We should have never made the promises we made because we could never really force these men to interpret their religious dogma differently. And we know this war was never about protecting women in the first place. They are being used a pawns and I really hate to see this happen.
