You are right. There is no viable justification for discriminating against a person who speaks AAVE or any other variation of English. You hit the nail on the head. When white people do it, it is considered charming and when we do it, people think of it as unprofessional.

I agree that we should not have to code-switch. Now, I refuse to but I feel like I would not have gotten far if I hadn't. I hope the next generation has it much better.

When I did my research, I also learned something new. LGBTQ + people have to code-switch all the time to prevent discrimination:

I think that code-switch does so much harm because it allows people to discriminate as opposed to encouraging inclusivity.
