You made an excellent point. First of all, I really do not understand how it can be political to encourage acceptance of all people from all races and genders.

I was forced to stand up for the pledge and in the anthem, God is mentioned. They pick and choose when to use the word "political" to suppress certain messages. This reminds me about the outrage over teaching evolution.

I agree with you that being a teacher is political. Removing BLM and LGBTQ does send a message that equity is already part of the country. In the absense of it, it is like lying to the children.

Thanks for writing this article. It gave me much to think about.
