You wrote a very illuminating piece. Thank you for creating this dialogue. King was right when he said that “lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection”. Too often, moderate democrats have only defending black citizens from a comfortable difference. There are 128 supporters of to HR 40. If white people are really ready to move on from racism, then why do moderate democrats continue to oppose restorative justice for victims of systematic racism? It is indeed bewildering to come so close to solving a problem and then taking a few steps back. We are tired of being placated and want real change.
